WHAT IS PINOY SCIFI?

Filipino's have always been dreamers. Evidence of our fascination with the unexplained and yet to Be's can be seen peppered all around our race's timeline. From the humble alamats of our anino's and the rituals of our tribal elders, to creation of the rice terraces, superstitious beliefs, stories of quests for birds, swords, heavily tattooed superheroes, enchanted stones, up to our take on western superhero ideology, we pinoys love to tell stories; fantastical at that. This site aims to stimulate all the closet scifi writers out there to come out. Science Fiction is the best form of fiction because it dares to give answers to questions that have yet to be discovered, creating paradoxes and multiverses in the process. PINOY SCIFI brings to you the possibilities of what our country could house. From huge robot defenders, to an invisible techno-war, a world where men hunt ancient beasts, and just about anything a pinoy can think about. It starts with a simple question:


WHAT IF.......


And then just like Jeff bridges' character in TRON, we create our own world. Populate it with characters that resemble everyday people we meet. We watch them walk around a world we've conjured up from our vast imagination and twist it up with something out of the box. May it be species from another race, gods using their powers in the form of ultra cool futuristic weapons, then suddenly a blast of blinding white light.


And sometimes we stray from the main path of the story, (like all writers experience) and all of the sudden our story doesn't add up and everything floats up and loses gravity. With SCIENCE FICTION all you need to do is put your characters to sleep, and say that it was a dream within a dream; just like the MATRIX.


And so to answer the question WHAT IS PINOY SCIFI, the answer to that is not hidden in lines of computer code or atop the penthouse of a computer generated skyscraper, no.


PINOY SCI-FI is life as we know it, incorporated within our dreams.


So welcome. Make sure your photon shields are up, your phasers on stun, and don't forget to pack that blue pill. Because we are about to walk into a space that houses multiverse after multiverse. Take my hand and hold on tight, and one more thing..... bring a pen.
